Randall County Mugshots: Search the Jail Roster, Booking Record, Bond and Court Case
The official Randall County Sheriff’s Office Jail Roster is the strongest starting point for a current Randall County mugshot or booking. A booking profile can show the intake date, inmate ID, arresting agency, cause number, charge description, issuing authority, offense status, classification and bond information. If the person is no longer in county custody, switch to the court, records-request, Texas prison or federal-custody source that matches your question.

Choose the Correct Randall County Record Before You Search
“Randall County mugshots” can describe several different tasks. The current jail roster, a warrant list, an arrest or incident report, a bond record and a criminal court file answer different questions. Start with the record that matches what you need to know now.
Is the person in Randall County Jail?
Use the Sheriff’s official Jail Roster. Open the matching person only after comparing more than the name.
Are you checking a Randall County warrant?
Use the Sheriff’s separate Warrants page. A warrant entry is not the same thing as a current jail booking.
What happened after the arrest?
Use Randall County Judicial Records and the correct clerk. Court records are the better source for filed charges, settings and later disposition.
Need the arrest or incident report?
Use the Sheriff’s Records/Open Records route when RCSO is the record custodian. If another agency investigated the incident, request the report from that agency instead.
Was the person transferred after sentencing?
Use TDCJ Offender Search for Texas prison custody or parole/mandatory-supervision information rather than continuing to refresh an old county roster.
Does the booking show a federal hold?
A Randall County booking can include an outside or federal hold. If the person later moves into federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator for BOP custody from 1982 to the present.
Before You Search: Gather the Details That Prevent False Matches
A Randall County mugshot search is more reliable when you start with enough information to distinguish one person from another. The public jail roster is name-searchable, but a matching name alone is not enough for a consequential conclusion. Prepare the strongest identifiers you already have before opening the roster.
Start with the smallest amount of personal data necessary
You normally do not need a Social Security number or other sensitive identifier to use the public Randall County jail roster. Avoid entering sensitive information into unrelated commercial forms when the official Sheriff page only asks you to search the roster.
Use date of birth carefully
If you have a date of birth from a legitimate source, use it only to confirm identity where an official system supports it. Do not publish or redistribute private identifiers simply because you are trying to distinguish two people with similar names.
Know what you are trying to prove
Current custody, an old arrest, a warrant, a filed criminal case and a statewide criminal-history record are different questions. Decide which question matters before searching. That one decision prevents most dead ends.
How to Find a Randall County Mugshot and Booking Record
Open the direct Sheriff Jail Roster
Use Randall County Sheriff’s Jail Roster rather than a cached search result or a commercial mugshot page. The current roster includes booking images on inmate profiles when a public image is available.
Search the booked legal name
Start with the surname and first name. If you get no useful result, recheck spelling and try a former, hyphenated or middle name when you have a legitimate reason to believe the booking may use it.
Match more than the name
Compare the displayed booking date, age and physical identifiers before deciding you found the correct person. Common names can produce dangerous false matches.
Save the inmate ID and each cause number
The inmate ID identifies the person inside the jail system. A cause number connects an individual charge or legal matter to the judicial system. One booking can contain more than one cause number.
Read every charge and bond line
Do not assume one bond amount covers the entire booking. Separate causes can have different bond types, amounts or holds. A zero displayed amount does not by itself prove the person can be released immediately.
Follow the record into court
Use the cause number in Randall County Judicial Records. The booking record shows what entered the jail system; the later docket is the better source for filed charges, hearings and final outcome.
/inmates, while the direct /inmateSearch endpoint is the page currently exposing searchable booking records. If one route is unavailable, retry the direct roster, use judicial records for an existing case, or call Jail Division at 806-468-5752 for a time-sensitive custody question. What the Randall County Jail Roster Fields Mean
A current Randall County inmate profile can show more detail than a mugshot alone. The fields should still be read as jail-system data, not as a final court judgment.
| Roster field | What it helps you identify | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Booking Date | The listed jail intake event and time. | It is not necessarily the exact arrest time or court filing date. |
| Inmate ID | The person’s identifier in the jail system. | It is not the same as a court cause number. |
| Arresting Agency | The agency tied to the booking entry. | That agency necessarily owns every later report or court record. |
| Cause Number | A number that can help connect the booking line to judicial records. | One booking has only one cause or one court. |
| Charge Description | The allegation shown on the jail entry. | The wording is the final filed or convicted offense. |
| Issuing Authority | The court or authority associated with that charge line. | Every listed charge is controlled by the same authority. |
| Offense Disposition | Status information supplied by the jail system. | It replaces the official docket, order or judgment. |
| Crime Classification | The displayed offense category or level. | It captures every later amendment or enhancement. |
| Bond Type / Amount | A starting point for a current release inquiry. | Paying one line clears every cause, warrant or hold. |
| Booking Image | A visual identity aid connected to that booking. | A mugshot is evidence of guilt or current custody forever. |
If the Mugshot Is Missing, Do Not Guess Why
The public Randall County roster can display booking images on inmate profiles, but a missing image does not prove that no arrest occurred, that the person was released, or that the record has been sealed. Public portals can expose different pieces of a jail record at different times, and some records may be restricted or unavailable.
Check whether the person is listed without relying on the photo
Use name, booking date, inmate ID, arresting agency, cause number and charge information to verify the entry. A photo is only one identity aid.
Use records or court sources if the person is no longer listed
The Sheriff’s public roster is designed around current jail information. If the person has left custody, the public profile may no longer be the best source for the arrest or case.
Do not invent a posting delay
Randall County’s own arrest guidance says the booking process can take several hours, but the Sheriff does not publish a universal “mugshot appears within X minutes” rule. Avoid relying on old claims about weekend delays, shift changes or a fixed 2–12 hour posting window.
Request the underlying record when the image itself matters
If you need a booking photograph for a legitimate records purpose and it is not visible on the public roster, contact the Sheriff’s Records Division or use the Sheriff open-records route. Release can depend on the nature of the record and applicable Texas law, so a request is not a guarantee that every image will be provided.
Randall County Mugshots From the Last 24 Hours, 7 Days or 30 Days
The Sheriff’s public site presents a current Jail Roster rather than dedicated “last 24 hours,” “last 7 days” or “last 30 days” mugshot archive pages. For a very recent arrest, start with the live roster and remember that Randall County’s own arrest-through-arraignment guidance says jail booking can take several hours.
Start with current custody
Search the live roster, then call Jail Division at 806-468-5752 when the custody question is urgent and the person has not appeared online yet.
Move beyond the live roster
Use judicial records for an existing case and the appropriate records-request route for older jail, booking, photograph or law-enforcement material that is not available on the current roster.
Booking Record vs. Arrest Report vs. Court Case vs. Criminal History
Many searches go wrong because these records are treated as interchangeable. They are produced by different custodians at different stages of the criminal process.
| Record | Best for | Typical custodian | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jail booking / roster | Current custody, intake data, cause number, bond line, booking image | Randall County Sheriff’s Office | Does not establish guilt or the final charge/disposition. |
| Warrant record | Checking a public Randall County warrant entry | Randall County Sheriff / warrant-owning court | A warrant entry does not mean the person is currently in jail. |
| Incident or arrest report | Officer narrative, incident details, report number and agency record | The law-enforcement agency that created the report | Some information may be withheld or redacted. |
| Court case | Filed charge, settings, motions, plea, dismissal, judgment and later disposition | District Clerk, County Clerk, Justice Court or municipal court | Online access may not contain every document or certified copy. |
| Texas DPS criminal history | Statewide public criminal-history name search | Texas Department of Public Safety | Name-based results can misidentify people; fingerprint comparison is stronger. |
| TDCJ / BOP custody record | State-prison or federal-prison custody after transfer/sentencing | TDCJ or Federal Bureau of Prisons | It does not replace the original Randall County court file. |
If the Randall County Jail Search Shows No Result
1. Recheck identity
Confirm spelling, surname order and the other identifying details you have. Do not attach an arrest to someone solely because the name is similar.
2. Allow for booking
The county says booking may take several hours. A person arrested very recently may not yet have a complete public profile.
3. Confirm Randall vs. Potter
Amarillo extends into both Randall and Potter counties. Use the arrest location, arresting agency, warrant county, booking paperwork or court name to choose the correct county system.
4. Search the court
A person can have a criminal case without being in Randall County Jail now. Use Randall County Judicial Records when the question is about the case rather than current custody.
5. Check state or federal custody
After sentencing or transfer, use TDCJ for Texas state custody. Use the BOP locator when the person is in federal Bureau of Prisons custody.
6. Call the right division
For time-sensitive current custody call Jail Division at 806-468-5752. For record copies or incident-report questions, use Records Division at 806-468-5863 or the formal open-records process.
Wrong County or Arresting Agency? Use the Record Owner
A Randall County jail search can fail even when an Amarillo-area arrest really occurred. Amarillo extends into both Randall and Potter counties, and a city police department can own the incident report even when the person is later housed in a county jail. Use the arrest location and the Arresting Agency field on any booking you find to route the next request.
Arrest may be across the county line
Potter County Sheriff maintains a separate public Jail Roster and Book-In’s resource. If an Amarillo arrest is not in Randall County, check Potter County rather than assuming the person was released or the booking never existed.
APD may own the police report
The City of Amarillo says APD handles public records and non-emergency reporting for incidents within Amarillo city limits. APD headquarters is 200 SE 3rd Ave., Amarillo, and the non-emergency number is 806-378-3038.
Canyon has its own open-records route
For a City of Canyon police incident, use Canyon Police rather than the Sheriff records office unless RCSO is actually the custodian. Canyon Police lists 1401 4th Ave., Canyon, TX 79015 and 806-655-5005, and the city provides a Police Open Records Request form.
Randall County Warrants Are a Separate Search
The Sheriff publishes a dedicated public Warrants page. The entries can include a name, age, warrant number and warrant owner. A warrant entry does not mean the person is currently booked in Randall County Jail, and a current booking does not prove every warrant issue has been resolved.
Use the Sheriff’s official warrant page
Open Randall County Warrants →
If a warrant issue is time-sensitive or you need verification beyond the public page, the Sheriff lists Warrants Division at 806-468-5753.
A public warrant page is not legal advice
Warrant status, surrender, bond and court obligations can be case-specific. Contact the responsible court, attorney or Sheriff division rather than relying on a screenshot or third-party list.
What Happens After a Randall County Arrest
Randall County publishes an “Arrest Through Arraignment” overview. It describes the local process in broad terms and warns that individual cases can differ. The sequence below is a practical way to understand why a jail booking and a court case are not the same record.
Law enforcement makes an arrest under a warrant or circumstances allowing a warrantless arrest, then the person is taken for jail processing.
Jail staff collect identifying information, generally take fingerprints, record property and process the person into custody. The county says this can take several hours.
The county says an arrested person must be seen by a judge or magistrate within 48 hours. Rights, the accusation and bail are addressed at this stage.
The prosecutor decides whether to pursue formal charges. Later court proceedings can include a complaint, information or indictment depending on the case.
How a Randall County Booking Moves Into the Court System
The jail roster is the beginning of a record trail, not the end. Randall County’s arrest-through-arraignment guidance explains the broad local sequence from arrest and booking through magistrate review and formal charging. Knowing that sequence makes it easier to understand why a jail charge can later look different in court.
Magistration is not the same as arraignment
Randall County says an arrested person must be taken before a judge or magistrate within 48 hours. The magistrate explains the accusation and rights and addresses bail. Randall County separately describes arraignment as the initial court appearance at the Justice Center where the charging instrument can be presented and a plea addressed.
A cause number is often your best bridge
When the jail profile displays one or more cause numbers, save all of them. Separate cause numbers can point to separate charges, courts, warrants or holds. Searching only the person’s name can miss or mix records when common names are involved.
Use the issuing authority as a routing clue
The jail profile can show the issuing authority associated with a charge line. That can help explain why one booking contains matters connected to different courts or agencies. Do not assume every line belongs to the same clerk.
Look for the disposition in the court system
A jail field labeled “offense disposition” is still jail-system information. For a legally significant conclusion—dismissal, conviction, deferred adjudication, acquittal, sentence or another final result—review the relevant court docket, order or judgment.

After the Mugshot: Find the Randall County Criminal Case
Use the jail cause number as a bridge into Randall County Judicial Records. The County’s Services page links to public judicial records; the underlying Tyler portal may block some automated access, but it remains the county-linked public search destination.
Randall County District Clerk
The District Clerk publishes a dedicated email for felony case copies or information: [email protected]. Main phone: 806-468-5600.
The office also states that a $5 research fee is added when the District Clerk’s office researches cases.
Randall County Clerk
The County Clerk has a Criminal Department for misdemeanor matters. The county directory lists [email protected] and 806-468-5505, ext. 4001.
Justice Court may be the correct court
Randall County Justice Courts handle Class C misdemeanor and traffic matters within their jurisdiction. A citation or warrant owner can help identify the right court.
Randall County Court Copies, Research Fees and Certified Records
Public online access can answer many research questions, but a certified copy or clerk-assisted search is a different service. The Randall County District Clerk fee chart currently linked on the county website is marked effective January 1, 2024. It lists separate charges for records research, paper copies, electronic copies after the stated threshold and certification; verify the clerk’s current schedule before ordering because fees can change.
Published research and copy charges
- Records search without a cause number: $5.
- Paper copies: $1 per page.
- Electronic copies after 10 pages: $0.10 per page.
- Certification of paper copies: $1, according to the published fee chart.
Fees can change. Verify the current clerk fee schedule before ordering.
Felony and misdemeanor copy requests route differently
Felony criminal information generally routes through the District Clerk. Misdemeanor criminal matters generally route through the County Clerk. Fine-only / Class C matters can belong to a Justice Court or municipal court instead.
When you already have a cause number, include it. It reduces the risk of searching the wrong person and can avoid a name-only research step.
Certified copy vs. online screen
An online docket is useful for checking status, but it is not automatically the same as a certified record. If you need a document for court, licensing, immigration, an attorney or another formal purpose, ask the responsible clerk what form of certification is required rather than printing a browser screen and assuming it will be accepted.
Do not pay the wrong court
Randall County’s online-payment guidance warns that paying the wrong court can create additional problems. Match the case number and court before making any criminal fine or fee payment. A jail bond, court fine, clerk copy fee and inmate-account deposit are separate transactions.
Bond, Holds and Randall County Release Questions
Randall County’s arrest guide says the magistrate addresses bail after reviewing the accusation and rights. The county distinguishes paying the full bail amount from using a bail bond company, which charges its own nonrefundable fee. The county does not publish one universal bondsman percentage for every case.
Check every cause number
- Confirm the person is still in custody.
- Save the inmate ID and every cause number.
- Read each bond type and displayed amount.
- Ask whether another warrant or outside hold affects release.
- Confirm the accepted bond route directly with the responsible official or licensed provider.
- Keep receipts and transaction records.
Use the Bail Bond Board’s current data
Randall County’s Bail Bond Board publishes a Bonding Company Data page with company-listing, renewal-date and values-summary documents. Because license status and dates can change, verify the newest county information before paying a company.
Before Paying Bond or Picking Someone Up: Run This Release Checklist
A displayed bond amount is not a guarantee of immediate release. A booking can contain multiple cause numbers, no-bond entries, outside warrants or other holds. Release processing also occurs after the legal and financial requirements are satisfied, so avoid promising a pickup time based on a screenshot.
- Confirm current custody. Reopen the official Randall County roster immediately before paying or travelling.
- Review every charge line. Check each cause number, issuing authority, bond type and amount rather than reading only the first row.
- Ask about holds. A local bond may not clear a separate federal, parole, out-of-county or other agency hold.
- Verify the payment route. Contact the jail/court or a currently authorized bail bond company before sending money.
- Keep proof. Save receipts, confirmation numbers and the name of the official or licensed provider you dealt with.
- Recheck release status. Do not assume the person has physically left custody at the moment payment is made.
What “no bond” or $0 can mean
Public jail profiles can display entries such as “NB,” $0 or N/A. Those fields should not be interpreted without context. They can reflect a no-bond condition, an outside hold, a status that does not use a standard cash amount, or another case-specific situation. Call the Jail Division or responsible court when release depends on the meaning of that entry.
If the Accused Cannot Afford a Lawyer
Randall County operates a Managed Assigned Counsel office for qualifying cases. The county says two broad issues matter: the type of charge and whether the accused is financially unable to hire counsel.
Case eligibility
The county says the charge generally must be a felony or a misdemeanor that can result in imprisonment. Fine-only offenses do not qualify through this process.
Financial eligibility
The office considers financial information such as income, dependents, spousal income and other relevant circumstances. Qualification is an individual determination.
Managed Assigned Counsel: 2309 Russell Long Blvd., Suite 134, Canyon, TX 79015 • 806-468-5517 • [email protected].
How to Request a Booking Photo, Arrest Report or Other Randall County Record
The public jail roster is not the same as a complete incident report, arrest report, historical jail file or underlying image file. Use a records request when the public portal does not contain the record you need.
Randall County Sheriff Open Records
Use the Sheriff’s Open Records Request page for Sheriff-held records, and call Records Division at 806-468-5863 when you need routing help.
Randall County Public Information Act request
The county designates [email protected] and 2309 Russell Long Blvd., Suite 120, Canyon, TX 79015 for Public Information Act requests.
Write the request so the custodian can identify the record
- Name the specific record: booking photograph, jail card, incident report, arrest report or another identifiable document.
- Give the person’s full name and a narrow date or incident range.
- Include inmate ID, incident number or cause number when you have it.
- Identify the likely agency or office.
- Ask for an existing record; do not ask the agency to perform legal analysis or create new information.
- Keep a copy of the request and proof of delivery.
Need Body-Camera Video? Texas Requires a More Specific Request
A request for body-worn camera footage is not the same as asking for a written incident report. Texas law requires a member of the public to provide specific identifying information when requesting a body-worn camera recording from a law-enforcement agency.
If the request does not contain the required identifiers, the law-enforcement agency may not have to release the body-camera recording. Other confidentiality and disclosure rules can also apply even when the request is properly described.
Send it to the agency that likely owns the footage
If Randall County Sheriff deputies created the recording, use the Sheriff’s records route. If Amarillo Police or Canyon Police created it, use that agency’s public-record process. The county jail or District Clerk generally is not the custodian for another agency’s body-camera recording.
Body-camera copy charges are a separate Texas rule
Texas Attorney General materials describe a specific fee framework for copies of body-worn camera recordings. Because laws and administrative rules can change, ask the agency for a current estimate before authorizing production rather than relying on an old fee calculation.
Write a Randall County Records Request That Can Actually Be Processed
The Texas Attorney General explains that a PIA request should seek information that already exists. A governmental body is not required to answer questions, perform legal research or create a new record. A narrow request also reduces the chance of delay, clarification requests or unnecessary cost.
Record requested: “I request a copy of the existing [incident report / arrest report / booking photograph / jail record] relating to…”
Identify the event: full name, approximate date, location, incident number, inmate ID or other identifier you already have.
Scope: give a reasonable date range and describe the specific record rather than asking for “everything.”
Delivery: state whether you prefer electronic copies or inspection when that option is available.
Cost control: ask to receive a cost estimate before the agency processes a request that could generate substantial charges.
What to expect after submission
Texas guidance says public information must be produced promptly. If a governmental body will take longer than ten business days to produce responsive information, it should notify the requester when the information will be available. If the body seeks to withhold information, separate Attorney General ruling procedures and deadlines can apply.
Keep proof of delivery
Save a copy of the request, the submission confirmation or sent email, and any response from the agency. If you later need help about the Public Information Act, the Texas Attorney General’s Open Government Hotline is 512-478-6736 or toll-free 877-673-6839.
Judicial records follow a different route
The Texas Attorney General states that the Public Information Act does not apply to judicial records. For a court docket, filed pleading, order, judgment or certified case document, use the court’s public-access system and the appropriate clerk instead of sending a general county PIA request.
Randall County Jail Visitation: Verify Custody Before Scheduling
The Sheriff’s official resources link to a dedicated Randall County GTL/ViaPath visitation portal. The portal allows registered visitors to schedule and manage visits online.
Prepare before you visit
- A valid state ID or passport is required.
- Cell phones are not allowed in the visitation area.
- Only registered visitors may appear on camera.
- Visitors should review the portal’s current visitation policies and dress code.
- Non-compliance can end a current video visit and affect future visitation privileges.
Confirm the appointment before travelling
Custody and schedules can change. Recheck the jail roster before leaving home and call Randall County Jail Visitation at 806-468-5825 for jail-specific assistance.
Mail, Phone, Money and Medical Questions Need Current Jail Instructions
These services change more often than the jail address or main phone number. The Sheriff currently maintains an official Inmate Mail resource and a separate visitation portal, but older third-party pages can retain outdated vendor names, mailing addresses, deposit methods or rates.
Check the Sheriff’s current mail page first
Confirm the inmate is still housed in Randall County and verify the current personal-mail versus legal/medical-mail instructions before sending documents or irreplaceable originals.
Do not confuse service balances with bail
Before depositing money or funding calls, confirm the current provider and facility selection through the jail’s current instructions. A trust account or communications balance does not satisfy a court bond.
Use the Jail Medical Division
The Sheriff lists Jail Medical Division at 806-468-5814. Staff may be able to receive relevant health information even when privacy rules limit what can be disclosed back to a family member.
Family Checklist: What to Do in the First Few Hours After a Randall County Arrest
Families often search “Randall County mugshots” because they are trying to answer several urgent questions at once. Use this order so you do not waste time calling the wrong office or paying an unverified service.
Verify the county and current custody
Search the Randall County Sheriff Jail Roster. If the arrest occurred in Amarillo and there is no result, confirm whether the arrest belongs to Potter County or whether booking is still underway.
Copy the identifiers
Save the inmate ID, booking date, arresting agency, every cause number, charge line and issuing authority. These details make later calls much more efficient.
Wait for magistration information
Randall County says the arrested person must be seen by a judge or magistrate within 48 hours. Bond may not be clear at the earliest stage of booking.
Verify bond before paying
Read every cause line and check for holds. If using a bondsman, confirm the company through Randall County Bail Bond Board data.
Use the right court after charges are filed
Save the cause number and use Randall County Judicial Records. Route felony records to the District Clerk and misdemeanor records to the County Clerk when appropriate.
Use official visitation and service pages
Before scheduling a visit, sending mail or funding a service, verify the person is still in Randall County custody and follow the current Sheriff/provider instructions.
Texas IVSS-Counties: Custody and Court Notifications
Texas IVSS-Counties provides county-level custody and court-event notifications. The Texas Attorney General states that management moved to the Office of the Governor beginning September 1, 2026, while the notification services themselves continue. The current portal supports offender searching and notification registration, and the public help number remains 866-268-8959.
Texas IVSS-Counties
The service can provide updates on county offender custody changes and court events. Current assistance number: 866-268-8959.
Do not rely on automated alerts as your only safety plan
Notification systems can be useful, but an alert should not replace emergency services, protective measures or individualized safety planning when there is an immediate risk.
When Randall County Is Not the Final Custody or Criminal-History Source
Texas state custody
TDCJ Offender Search supports name, SID number or current TDCJ number searches. The current portal also supports wildcard searching with an asterisk for partial names or identifiers.
If the online result does not answer the custody-history question, TDCJ also accepts general inmate-information requests by email. Its published guidance says to send the inmate’s full name and 8-digit TDCJ number to [email protected]; if the TDCJ number is unknown, provide the exact date of birth or approximate age and county of conviction. TDCJ says there is no charge for this general email information service, and inmate photographs and Social Security numbers are not provided through it.
Statewide criminal-history name search
The DPS online name-search system charges one search credit per submitted search. Search credits are currently $1 each; card purchases add the current DPS processing/transaction charges. DPS warns that name-based matching has identity limitations.
Federal Bureau of Prisons custody
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 to the present. BOP warns that projected release dates can change and that “Not in BOP Custody” does not necessarily mean the person is free from every other justice system.
Randall County Search vs. Texas DPS Criminal History: Know the Difference
The Randall County jail roster answers a local custody question. Texas DPS Criminal History Name Search is a separate statewide public criminal-history service. Using the DPS system does not mean a person is currently jailed in Randall County, and the Randall roster is not a statewide background check.
County jail search
- Best for current Randall County custody.
- Can show booking date, inmate ID, cause number, charge lines and bond fields.
- Free public roster access.
- Current-custody focus rather than statewide history.
Texas DPS name search
- Statewide criminal-history name search.
- Requires search credits; DPS currently lists $1 per submitted search.
- Uses name and optional birth-date information.
- Name-based matching can return the wrong person; fingerprint review is the stronger identity method.
Search credits can be used even when no record matches
DPS states that a search credit is charged for a submitted search even when the result says no matching records. Enter accurate information and review the search guidance before repeatedly submitting variations.
DPS warns about identity matching
DPS explicitly cautions that name, date-of-birth and other alphanumeric searches are not always accurate. For a disputed result, the agency directs applicants toward a personal review based on fingerprints. That distinction matters if the record will affect a serious personal decision.
Wrong Record, Wrong Identity, Expunction or Nondisclosure
Different problems require different fixes. A jail typo, a wrong court docket entry, a mistaken DPS identity match and a legally valid arrest record that may qualify for sealing are not the same issue.
Contact the custodian that owns the incorrect record
- Jail or Sheriff record: Records Division / Sheriff open records.
- Felony court record: District Clerk.
- Misdemeanor court record: County Clerk.
- Texas statewide criminal history: DPS personal-review/fingerprint process when identity is disputed.
Expunction and nondisclosure are different
Texas expunction can remove qualifying arrest-history entries, while an order of nondisclosure generally restricts public disclosure of qualifying records rather than erasing every underlying record. Eligibility depends on the exact charge and disposition.
Randall County’s County Clerk links to nondisclosure forms, and TexasLawHelp provides statewide self-help materials for expunction and nondisclosure.
Randall County Booking and Court Terms Explained
Public jail and court pages use compact abbreviations that can be confusing. These definitions explain how to read the record without turning a field into a legal conclusion it does not support.
- Inmate ID
- The identifier used for the person inside the jail system. It is not the same as a court cause number.
- Cause number
- A case or charge-related identifier that can help connect the jail entry to the judicial system. One booking may contain multiple cause numbers.
- Issuing authority
- The court, board or other authority associated with a listed charge or hold. Use it as a routing clue.
- Offense disposition
- A status field shown by the jail system. Confirm the legally significant final result in the court record.
- Crime classification
- The offense-level/category field shown on the booking line. Later charging decisions can differ.
- Bond type
- The jail’s displayed bond category. Do not infer release eligibility from the abbreviation alone when another hold or cause exists.
- Hold / detainer
- An instruction or legal basis that can keep a person in custody for another agency or authority even if a local bond issue is resolved.
- Magistration
- The early appearance before a judge or magistrate where the accusation, rights and bail are addressed.
- Arraignment
- A later court appearance where the charging instrument and plea are addressed, according to Randall County’s general case-process guidance.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-certified court document. It is different from a screenshot or ordinary online printout.
Common Randall County Mugshot Search Mistakes
Using an old commercial mugshot page first
Start with the Sheriff roster and county court links. Commercial pages can be stale, incomplete or optimized around old URLs.
Treating Amarillo as one county
Amarillo extends into Randall and Potter counties. Confirm the arrest location and agency before deciding the record is missing.
Assuming the first matching name is correct
Compare age, booking date, physical descriptors and case identifiers. Common names create false matches.
Reading one bond line only
One booking can contain multiple causes or holds. Release can depend on more than the first displayed amount.
Calling the jail for a court disposition
The jail records custody. Use the appropriate clerk and court docket for the later case outcome.
Sending a PIA request for a judicial record
Texas PIA does not govern judicial records. Use Randall County Judicial Records and the responsible clerk.
Requesting bodycam without the required details
Texas requires date/approximate time, specific location and at least one known subject of the recording.
Assuming a dismissed case disappears automatically
Dismissal, expunction and nondisclosure are different. Obtain the disposition and check legal eligibility before assuming the record is gone.
Use Randall County Arrest Information Carefully
- Verify identity with multiple matching details before associating an arrest with a person.
- Do not treat a mugshot, arrest, bond amount or booking charge as proof of guilt.
- Check the later court record before repeating an old allegation as current fact.
- Do not use a jail roster as a substitute for a legally compliant employment, housing, credit or insurance consumer report.
- Do not harass, threaten, stalk, extort or intimidate a defendant, victim, witness or family member.
- Respect sealed, expunged and otherwise restricted records.
- Use official sources again immediately before paying bond, travelling to a visit, mailing privileged material or making another consequential decision.

Frequently Asked Questions About Randall County Mugshots
Where can I find official Randall County mugshots?
Start with the Randall County Sheriff’s Office Jail Roster at randallso.gov/inmateSearch. The roster has a search field and current inmate profiles can include a booking image, booking date, inmate ID, arresting agency, cause number, charge description, issuing authority, offense status, classification and bond information. A booking photo documents custody; it does not prove guilt or show the final court result.
Why is a recent Randall County arrest not appearing yet?
Randall County’s arrest-through-arraignment guidance says the booking process can take several hours. Recheck the legal name, confirm Randall County rather than Potter County, and verify the arresting agency. If the custody question is urgent, call the Sheriff Jail Division at 806-468-5752 instead of relying on an invented online posting timetable.
Does Randall County have a last-24-hours, 7-day or 30-day mugshot archive?
The Sheriff’s public site presents a current Jail Roster rather than separate official pages labeled “last 24 hours,” “last 7 days” or “last 30 days.” For an older or released person, use Randall County Judicial Records and the correct records-request route. Do not assume a person was never arrested simply because the current roster no longer shows them.
How do I read bond information on a Randall County booking?
Read every cause number and bond line. One booking can contain several charges, warrants or holds. A $0, N/A or abbreviated bond field should not be interpreted without context. Confirm the current release requirements with the jail or responsible court, and verify a bail bond company against Randall County Bail Bond Board information before paying.
How do I check a Randall County warrant?
Use the Randall County Sheriff’s dedicated Warrants page. Public entries can include the person’s name, age, warrant number and warrant owner. A warrant entry does not prove the person is currently in jail. For warrant-specific verification, the Sheriff lists Warrants Division at 806-468-5753.
How do I find the court case after a Randall County booking?
Save each cause number from the jail entry and open Randall County Public Access to Judicial Records. Felony copy or research requests generally route to the District Clerk; misdemeanor criminal matters generally route through the County Clerk; Class C or traffic matters can belong to a Justice Court or municipal court. Use the court record—not the mugshot—to verify the later legal outcome.
What does the Randall County District Clerk charge for record research or copies?
The District Clerk fee chart available on the county website lists a $5 records search fee without a cause number, $1 per page for paper copies, $0.10 per page for electronic copies after 10 pages, and $1 to certify paper copies. Verify the current fee schedule before ordering because clerk fees can change.
How do I request a Randall County arrest report or body-camera video?
Use the records process of the agency that created the record. For Sheriff-held material, use the Randall County Sheriff Open Records route or Records Division at 806-468-5863. Texas body-camera requests require the date and approximate time, the specific location and the name of at least one known subject of the recording. Court records should be requested from the court/clerk rather than through the general Texas PIA route.
How do I schedule a Randall County jail visit?
Use the Randall County GTL/ViaPath visitation portal linked by the Sheriff. The portal says a valid state ID or passport is required, cell phones are not allowed in the visitation area and only registered visitors may appear on camera. Recheck current custody before the visit and call Jail Visitation at 806-468-5825 for jail-specific assistance.
What should I do if the person is no longer in Randall County Jail?
Check the Randall County court case first. If the person moved into Texas Department of Criminal Justice custody, use TDCJ Offender Search. If the person entered federal Bureau of Prisons custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. Texas DPS Criminal History Name Search is a separate statewide record service and should not be confused with current jail custody.

Source limitations: the Randall County Judicial Records portal returned an automated-access restriction during research, although Randall County’s official Services and County Clerk pages link to it as the public court-record destination. The Sheriff’s Inmate Mail page is live but its detailed mail/vendor rules were not exposed in the accessible text crawl, so older vendor names, mailing addresses and payment methods are not presented as current facts. Clerk fees and provider rules can change; recheck the official page before paying or sending documents.
Bottom Line
For current Randall County mugshots and bookings, begin with the Sheriff’s live Jail Roster, use the search field, verify identity with several details, and save the inmate ID plus every cause number. Then follow the record to the court, records custodian or custody system that answers the next question rather than treating the mugshot page as a complete criminal record.
If the person is no longer in county custody, do not assume the record disappeared: check the court case, TDCJ for Texas state custody, or the BOP locator for federal custody. For victims or concerned users who need custody/court updates, Texas IVSS-Counties provides the statewide county-notification route.
The practical distinction is simple: the booking record shows jail intake, the roster shows current county custody information, the warrant page shows outstanding warrant data, the law-enforcement record documents the incident, and the court record shows what happened to the case afterward.
