Search Georgetown County Bookings, Releases and Court Records Through Official Sources
If you are looking for Georgetown SC mugshots or a recent arrest, start with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Booking and Release search. The official system allows searches by name, booking date or release date. When you need to know what happened after booking, move to the South Carolina Judicial Branch court-record system.
Records Search
Court, Criminal, Marriage, Divorce, Property
A booking photograph, arrest entry or initial charge records an arrest-stage event. It does not establish guilt, prove a conviction or necessarily show the final charge or case outcome.
Which Georgetown County Record Should You Search?
A jail booking, arrest report, bond record, court case and statewide criminal-history report answer different questions. Using the correct source prevents many false or incomplete conclusions.
Was the person booked in Georgetown County?
Use the Sheriff’s official Booking and Release page. It supports name, booking-date and release-date searches.
Is the person still in detention?
Use the same Sheriff booking system and review the current detention information rather than relying on an old third-party screenshot.
What happened after the arrest?
Use Georgetown County case records through the South Carolina Judicial Branch and contact the Clerk when you need the official record.
Need the underlying incident report?
For Georgetown County Sheriff cases, use the Sheriff’s report or FOIA process. Another arresting agency may maintain its own report.
Need a broader South Carolina record?
SLED CATCH provides name-based South Carolina criminal-history checks. It is different from the county jail booking search.
Was the person transferred to SCDC?
Use South Carolina Department of Corrections for people currently sentenced to and incarcerated in the state prison system.

How to Search Georgetown County Arrests, Bookings and Releases
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office publishes booking information as a public service. Its current Booking and Release page lets users search by name, booking date or release date, which makes it useful for both current custody research and older recent bookings.
Open the Sheriff’s Booking and Release page
Use the official Georgetown County Booking and Release search instead of beginning with a commercial mugshot directory.
Choose the search method that matches what you know
Search by the person’s name when identity is known. Use booking date when researching arrests from a particular day, or release date when checking whether someone previously held has left the facility.
Compare the arresting agency
The booking record may identify the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office or another local or state law-enforcement agency. The arresting agency matters if you later need the incident report.
Review charges and bond carefully
The Detention Center states that charges do not appear until warrants are served by the arresting agency and that bond information is not posted until Bond Court submits the paperwork to Booking.
Use the release-date search when the person is no longer active
A person can leave detention while the criminal case continues. Search the release field and then use the court system for later case information.
Continue to the South Carolina court record
When you need filed charges, hearings or a later case result, move from the jail record to Georgetown County’s trial-court records.
What a Georgetown County Mugshot Does—and Does Not—Establish
The Georgetown County Detention Center states that it fingerprints and photographs prisoners brought into the facility. A booking photograph therefore belongs to the intake stage of detention.
A booking record can help show
- That a detention intake was recorded.
- The booking date.
- The arresting agency.
- Initial charges when posted.
- Bond information after Bond Court processing.
- Release information where available.
It does not establish
- Guilt.
- A conviction.
- The final filed charge.
- The final case disposition.
- That a person remains incarcerated today.
- That a same-name result belongs to the person you intended to search.
When the legal outcome matters, follow the booking into the South Carolina court system rather than describing the initial arrest allegation as the final result.
No Georgetown Mugshot or Booking Result? Check These Possibilities
| Problem | Possible explanation | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No current result | The person may already have been released or transferred. | Search by release date, then move to the Public Index. |
| Charge is missing | The Sheriff says charges are not posted until the arresting agency serves the warrants. | Recheck the booking record after processing or contact the appropriate agency. |
| Bond is missing | Bond may not be posted until Bond Court paperwork reaches Booking. | Recheck after the applicable bond hearing. |
| Name does not match | Middle names, suffixes or spelling can affect identification. | Compare DOB, age, booking date, arresting agency and case information where available. |
| Arrest made by city police | The Detention Center may hold people arrested by other agencies. | Use GCDC for custody but contact the arresting agency for its incident report. |
| Old booking no longer appears as active | A jail roster is not the same as a complete criminal-history database. | Use release-date search, court records or SLED CATCH depending on the question. |
| Person is now in state prison | County custody may have ended after sentencing. | Search South Carolina Department of Corrections. |

Georgetown County Detention Center Visitation
The Detention Center currently offers video visitation through its inmate communications system. Members of the public need a Pay Tel account for the video-visitation service.
The facility also publishes separate rules for state-inmate visits. Those rules include prior placement on the approved visitor list, appropriate identification and arrival at least 15 minutes before the scheduled visit for ID processing.
Attorney visits
Attorneys may visit clients seven days a week, but visits are not permitted during published meal periods of 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.

- Valid government-issued identification may be required.
- Only two visitors are generally allowed at the same time under the published state-inmate rules, with a limited exception for a child under one year old.
- Visitors under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Dress and conduct rules apply.
- A person held at GCDC within the prior 90 days is not approved for visitation under the published state-inmate rules.

The lobby kiosk currently permits credit/debit card deposits up to $300, with a transaction fee charged by the kiosk service provider.
Georgetown County Detainee Mail Uses a Scanning System
The Sheriff states that non-legal detainee mail now goes through a scanning system. Mail sent directly to the Detention Center for ordinary non-legal correspondence is no longer the normal route.
The current instructions require the envelope to contain the facility name, detainee name, detainee ID and facility ID. The published Georgetown County Detention Center facility ID is 5317.
- Mail may contain no more than 10 pages per envelope.
- Pages can be no larger than 8.5 × 11 inches.
- Cash, personal checks and money orders must not be mailed to the scanning center.
- Polaroid photos are not allowed.
- Glitter, glue, tape, 3D items and electronic components are prohibited.
Legal mail is different
Legal or privileged mail should not be sent to the scanning center. The Sheriff directs legal mail to the facility itself:

Confirm Identity Before Connecting a Georgetown Mugshot to a Person
A name match alone is not enough to make a reliable identification. Compare several official details before associating an arrest with a specific person, particularly when the name is common.
- Full first, middle and last name
- Suffix such as Jr., Sr., II or III
- Date of birth or age where lawfully displayed
- Booking date
- Release date
- Arresting agency
- Booking or inmate identifier
- Georgetown County jurisdiction
- Court case number
Use the Correct South Carolina County or State Record
Georgetown County borders Horry County and is part of the same Fifteenth Judicial Circuit. If the booking occurred outside Georgetown County, use the records system for the actual detention jurisdiction rather than assuming a nearby arrest belongs in GCDC.
