Fulton County jail mugshots and inmate records
To find a Fulton County jail booking, start with the Sheriff’s official inmate database. If you need the actual mugshot, use the Sheriff’s open-records request and attach the required booking-photo affirmation. Those are two separate processes—and Georgia law restricts what photographs police and sheriffs can publish online.
Records Search
Court, Criminal, Marriage, Divorce, Property
Important: A mugshot or arrest record is not a conviction. An entry may change after release, transfer, a court hearing or a change in charges. This is an independent guide, not a Fulton County government service.
Which Fulton County record answers your question?
People searching for “Fulton County jail mugshots,” “Fulton County jail roster” and “recent Fulton County arrests” often want different information. Use the matching agency instead of assuming a single database provides photos, police reports, custody status and court outcomes.
| You need | Start with | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Someone’s reported jail custody or booking | Sheriff inmate search | Once-daily updates; records are not guaranteed real-time. |
| The booking photograph itself | Sheriff open-records request | Booking-photo affirmation form required; release is not guaranteed. |
| Charges, bond or a very new intake | Main Jail and arrestee information | Processing or first-appearance results may not yet be available. |
| Court hearings or case outcome | Fulton Clerk case search | The case may be in Superior, State, Magistrate or a municipal court. |
| A state prisoner | Georgia Department of Corrections | State prison and county jail searches are not the same. |
The online inmate portal is a Fulton County Sheriff’s Office service, even though the search itself may open on the Tyler Technologies/Odyssey platform. Following the link from the Sheriff’s site is the safest way to reach the correct public system.
How to search the Fulton County inmate database
Have the person’s full name and, if known, an approximate booking date or identifying number available. You do not need a mugshot before starting: the official inmate tool is primarily a custody and jail-record search.
- Open the Sheriff’s inmate-search page.
Visit fcsoga.org/inmate-search/ and select the link labeled “Search Inmate Database.”
- Follow the linked records portal.
The official link leads to a Fulton County jail-records portal. If prompted to select a record location, choose “Jail Records.” Read any displayed instructions before searching.
- Enter the known name or identifier.
Use the search fields currently shown by the portal. Start with a full legal name and narrow the result using any additional fields actually offered.
- Compare the details.
Check the booking date, booking or SO number, facility, arrest information and custody information wherever displayed. Do not identify a person from a common name alone.
- Account for the daily update.
The Sheriff states that the public database is updated once per day. A recent arrest, release or transfer may not yet appear in the public search.
- Use the next agency if needed.
For a current custody question that cannot wait for an update, call the jail. For the actual photo, submit a records request. For a final charge or court result, use the appropriate clerk.
The Sheriff’s public portal is not a national criminal-history database, and it should not be presented as a live list of every person arrested in Atlanta today.
How to request Fulton County jail mugshots
For the actual booking photograph, use the Fulton County Sheriff’s open-records instructions. The Sheriff’s page directs all open-records requests through the Fulton County Open Records Requests Center and specifically requires a release affirmation for a booking photo.
- Open the Sheriff’s Open Records Request page.
Use the official instructions and follow the link to the county’s records center. The portal may require you to create an account or log in.
- Choose the correct department.
In the department dropdown, select Sheriff, as directed by the agency. A court clerk or Atlanta Police report request is not the same as a Fulton Sheriff booking-photo request.
- Describe the record.
Give the known name, booking date or approximate period, booking/SO number if available, and explain that you are seeking the booking photograph. Accurate details help the custodian identify a particular record.
- Complete the affirmation.
Download the Sheriff’s Release of Booking Photos — Letter of Affirmation (PDF), complete it truthfully, and attach it as instructed. The form concerns the prohibition on charging to remove published booking photos.
- Submit and retain confirmation.
Keep the submission reference and check the portal for a response, any cost estimate and any lawful restrictions. Submission does not mean a photograph must be released.
Download before requesting: Official booking-photo affirmation form (PDF). The Sheriff’s current request page links to this required form; use the current version the agency provides rather than relying on an old copy.
Will a booking-photo request cost money?
The county’s open-records fee guidance explains that allowable staff, search, copying and redaction costs may apply. It describes the first 15 minutes of employee time as free and ordinary page copies generally at $0.10 per page, with exceptions and estimates. A booking photograph is not necessarily priced like a paper page. Follow any actual estimate sent by the agency; do not assume the search portal or this article charges a booking-photo fee.
Why you may not see a public mugshot gallery in Georgia
O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 generally prohibits an arresting law-enforcement agency or its agent from posting booking photographs to a website, subject to statutory exceptions. This is one reason the correct Fulton County workflow is to search jail records and make a separate photo request rather than expect an official gallery of recent mugshots.
The law also limits releasing a booking photo to requesters when the photograph would be used in publications or websites that require payment for removal. It requires a requester to submit a statement affirming compliance. The Fulton Sheriff’s affirmation form implements that requirement.
Georgia’s statute contains exceptions, including certain legally required publications and law-enforcement administrative uses; therefore “every mugshot is secret” would be inaccurate. The applicable rule concerns agency publication and release, not a promise that every historical copy elsewhere online is lawful or removable.
For the text and exceptions, consult the Official Code of Georgia, Title 35, § 35-1-19 (2025 edition, PDF). A 2025 amendment effective July 1, 2025 adjusted terminology in subsection (b). Where an individual record is restricted or a removal dispute exists, the precise facts and current law matter.
Recent arrests, booking dates, charges and bond information
The Sheriff says people brought to the Fulton County Main Jail undergo property intake, medical screening, fingerprints, photography and a warrants check. This processing can take time, especially when information is pending from other systems. Do not assume a record appears immediately after arrest.
When is first appearance?
The Sheriff’s jail guidance describes routine first appearance for people who have not bonded out as generally within 24 hours after arrest, with weekend arrests typically heard Monday. This is the agency’s published operational guidance, not a guarantee about a particular person’s hearing. Check the actual court or jail record for a confirmed time.
Where do I check charges and bond?
According to the Sheriff’s jail page, information about charges and bond may be requested at the main jail front desk or by calling 404-613-2002 or 404-662-3516. The Sheriff notes that first-appearance results may not reach booking staff until later in the day. Reconfirm any amount and acceptable payment method directly before arranging a bond.
Does the booking date prove a conviction?
No. The booking date records an intake stage, and the initial charge is an allegation. Later prosecution, bond conditions, a guilty plea, dismissal, acquittal or sentence must be confirmed from the court. A person shown in an old booking record may have been released long ago.
What if a person has already been released?
A current inmate search may not answer a historical question. Save any available booking number, then consult the arresting agency’s records and the appropriate court. Do not assume a missing current roster entry means an old arrest never occurred.
Find the Fulton County court case after a jail booking
The Fulton County Clerk’s Find a Case page links to judicial record searches for Superior, State and Magistrate courts. Search by case number if you have one; otherwise use the party name and any date or case-type filters the portal offers.
If you need the final result, look for filed charges, hearings, orders and a disposition in the appropriate court. A booking number and court case number are different identifiers. A case may be absent from a particular portal because it was filed in a different court, recently initiated, or is restricted from public access.
The State Court Criminal Division FAQ says publicly available documents can be accessed through the county’s records portal; some online viewing or printing requires an account and payment, while public access terminals at county locations provide onsite access. Confirm procedures before visiting.
If you need a certified disposition, contact the clerk responsible for that case. A screenshot of the jail listing is not a certified court record.
Fulton County Jail address, phone and directions
Use the main jail contact for urgent questions about Fulton County custody or a new intake. The Sheriff’s administrative office, city detention center and county jail have different addresses, even though all are associated with Atlanta-area justice services.
901 Rice Street NW
Atlanta, GA 30318
404-613-2000
185 Shirley C. Franklin Blvd. SW
Atlanta, GA 30303
404-612-5100
Open Fulton County Jail in Google Maps. Check the Sheriff’s current access and visitation instructions before traveling; an inmate search result does not establish that a public visit is allowed at a chosen time.
What about the Atlanta City Detention Center?
The City of Atlanta Department of Corrections lists the Atlanta City Detention Center at 254 Peachtree Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30303, telephone 404-865-8001. City custody is a separate route; do not use the city facility as the default location for every Fulton County arrest.
Atlanta extends into Fulton and DeKalb counties. If the arrest was handled through DeKalb County, the Fulton County roster may be the wrong source. Our Atlanta mugshots guide explains how to distinguish the two counties and city detention.
No inmate or photo found? What to check next
| Problem | Possible reason | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| No listing after today’s arrest | Database updates once daily or intake is still processing. | Recheck the official search and contact the jail if urgent. |
| Inmate record but no photograph | Georgia’s photo-publication rule and separate record-release process. | Use Sheriff open records with a booking-photo affirmation. |
| Name gives several matches | Common or changed name. | Compare booking date, number and other lawful identifiers. |
| Person appeared earlier but is now missing | Release, transfer or portal coverage. | Use court and arresting-agency records for history. |
| Arrest occurred in Atlanta but Fulton returns nothing | DeKalb or City of Atlanta custody applies. | Identify booking facility before switching databases. |
| Person moved to state prison | State custody replaces county detention. | Check Georgia Find an Offender. |
How do I find someone in Georgia state custody?
The Georgia Department of Corrections’ Find an Offender covers offenders in its facilities. GDC warns that offender photographs may appear automatically when available. This is a different source with a different legal and administrative scope than Fulton County’s jail photo-request process.
Could a federal inmate be missing?
Yes. The Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator concerns federal inmates from 1982 onward, not Fulton County jail intakes. Use it only when federal custody is relevant.
What about visitation, phone calls and inmate deposits?
Use the Sheriff’s current Jail Division page for the approved visitation provider, mail and money procedures. These services may involve charges, registration, identification and restrictions. Do not send money to someone based only on a name match; verify the inmate’s official number and facility first.
Three terms that change what you should search
- Booking photograph or mugshot
- A picture made during arrest or detention intake. It does not establish guilt or the final outcome of a charge.
- Jail booking record
- A detention record describing entry into a facility. It may include a booking number, intake date, charges and custody-related information.
- Court disposition
- A recorded outcome of a criminal case or charge. This is a court record, not something reliably established by an initial jail listing.
Fulton County jail mugshots FAQs
Where is the official Fulton County inmate search?
Use Fulton County Sheriff’s Inmate Search. It links to the official jail-records portal. The Sheriff says its database is updated once daily.
Can I see Fulton County jail mugshots online?
The Sheriff provides an inmate search, but a general public online mugshot gallery has not been confirmed. Georgia restricts agency posting of booking photographs. Request an available photo through the Sheriff’s open-records procedure.
How do I get a Fulton County booking photo?
Use the Sheriff’s open-records page, select Sheriff in the county request center, describe the booking record and attach the required photo-release affirmation form.
Is the inmate search updated in real time?
No. The Sheriff expressly says the public inmate database updates once per day. A newly processed arrest, transfer or release can appear after a delay.
How do I find recent Fulton County arrests from today?
Begin with the Sheriff inmate database, remembering its daily update schedule. If a particular person’s immediate custody status is urgent, contact the main jail. There is no confirmed official countywide live mugshot feed.
Is there a fee to request a mugshot?
The Sheriff’s open-records policy permits certain costs for record search, copying and preparation. Actual cost depends on the request. A fee estimate, if applicable, should come from the agency, not a third-party booking-photo search form.
What is the Fulton County Jail phone number?
The official Main Jail number is 404-613-2000. The Sheriff also lists 404-613-2002 and 404-662-3516 for charge and bond inquiries.
What is the Fulton County Jail address?
901 Rice Street NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30318. This is the main jail address, not the Sheriff’s administrative office or the Atlanta City Detention Center.
Why is someone missing from the jail roster?
The person may have been released, transferred, recently booked but not yet reflected in the daily update, or processed by a different jail. Check the arrest jurisdiction, the official court record and the correct custody agency.
Are Atlanta mugshots always held by Fulton County?
No. Atlanta includes parts of Fulton and DeKalb counties, and the City of Atlanta operates a separate detention facility. The correct jail depends on the actual arrest and booking location.
Can I find a court disposition using the booking number?
A jail booking number and a court case number are not necessarily the same. Use the Clerk’s case search and search by the available case or party information. Ask the clerk for a certified disposition if needed.
Does a Fulton County mugshot prove someone was convicted?
No. A booking photograph shows an intake or arrest-stage record, not guilt. The original allegations may have changed or been dismissed. Court records are the appropriate source for the later case outcome.
