Find the Eastern Regional Jail record that answers your question
For ERJ mugshots, recent bookings or inmate status, start with West Virginia’s official corrections search—not an old third-party arrest gallery. Find the right record, check the facility, and use court files when the outcome matters.

ERJ is Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility in Martinsburg. The state lists it at 94 Grapevine Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405, serving Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties. Its official telephone number is 304-267-0045.
The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (WV DCR) provides two distinct starting points: Offender Search (Jails) for a named person and Daily Incarcerations for recent admission activity. A booking photograph appears only if the state makes one available for the matching record. An arrest or booking does not prove guilt.
Important: ERJ is not the same as Martinsburg Correctional Center and Jail. ERJ is at 94 Grapevine Road, WV 25405; Martinsburg Correctional Center is a separate state facility at 38 Grapevine Road, WV 25401. Check the facility name before requesting information or traveling.
Which ERJ mugshot or record search should you use?
“ERJ mugshots” can mean a booking photo, a list of newly admitted people, or confirmation that a particular person is still in custody. These are different questions; no one state search is a complete historical arrest-and-court database.
| Need to know | Use this source | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Is a named person currently in a regional jail? | WV DCR Offender Search (Jails) | Current status can change after release or transfer. |
| Who was recently admitted to ERJ? | WV DCR Daily Incarcerations | An admission listing is not a permanent mugshot archive. |
| Where is ERJ, or how do I visit? | Official ERJ facility page and posted visitation PDF | Call to confirm an appointment and rules. |
| What happened to the charges or bond? | WV Magistrate or Circuit Court records | The court, not the jail, controls case dispositions. |
| Was the person moved to state prison? | WV DCR Offender Search (Prisons) | Jail and prison searches cover different custody stages. |
| Who created the police arrest report? | The arresting sheriff, municipal police or West Virginia State Police | The jail may not hold the underlying incident report. |
The state’s offender search page links to all three corrections tools. Some state search endpoints may require an interactive browser or robot verification; use the official DCR gateway rather than an unverified copy of an inmate list.
How to find an ERJ inmate and available mugshot
Have the person’s full legal name ready. If available, also keep a booking number, approximate booking date and county of the case. The jail search is statewide, so finding a name is not enough: you must confirm that the result belongs to the right person and identifies ERJ.
-
Open the WV DCR Offender Search hub.
Choose Offender Search (Jails), not the separate prison search. The public state gateway is the safest source when saved links or third-party pages are outdated.
-
Enter the legal first and last name.
Use the fields shown by the official form and complete any required security verification. Do not assume nicknames or a shortened surname will match the jail record.
-
Review every likely name match.
Look for Eastern Regional Jail as the associated institution. Where available, use the state’s “More Info” view and identifying details such as date of birth, booking date or offender number to distinguish people with similar names.
-
Check whether a photograph is displayed.
If a booking image is provided, treat it as one part of the state record. The absence of an image does not prove that a booking never occurred or that a photograph must be publicly available.
-
Verify time-sensitive custody with ERJ.
Because release and transfer information can change quickly, contact the facility at 304-267-0045 when the status matters immediately. Keep any state-provided identifier available when asking a legitimate question.
-
Move to the court system for the legal case.
For filed charges, hearings, bond orders or the outcome, consult the West Virginia Judiciary and the clerk of the county in which the case was filed.
The West Virginia Municipal League’s published court-training instructions describe the regional jail search as a name search with robot verification and an expanded “More Info” result when available. Interfaces can change, so follow the labels that are actually displayed. A jail search is not a reliable substitute for a full criminal-history report.
ERJ mugshots today: how to check recent bookings
If your question is “Who was booked into ERJ recently?”, select Daily Incarcerations from the same WV DCR search page. The daily tool is different from an individual jail roster: it is meant to show admission activity associated with a date, county or institution, according to the options the state provides.
- Open WV DCR’s Offender Search and follow Daily Incarcerations.
- Select a relevant date or institution if the live interface offers it. Confirm the facility says Eastern Regional Jail, not another regional jail.
- Review any available booking or admission details and match more than a name before attributing a result to someone.
- Use Offender Search (Jails) afterward if you need the person’s currently reported jail location.
- Use the court record if you need a filed charge, upcoming hearing or case outcome.
For an arrest made overnight, the arrest date and jail admission date may differ. A person admitted on a given date might already have been released or transferred when the daily record is viewed. The state warns that its offender information can change quickly and may not accurately reflect the current location, release date or status at every moment.
Can you search old ERJ mugshots?
The public Daily Incarcerations interface is not presented as a complete archive of every ERJ photograph since the facility opened. If the person is absent from the live jail search, check the court case and consider a public-records request to the correct records custodian. No online result is not the same as no past arrest.
For the broader statewide distinction between past bookings and present custody, see our West Virginia regional jail and WVRJA mugshots guide.
Eastern Regional Jail location, telephone and counties served
WV DCR identifies Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility as a Martinsburg facility operating since September 1999. It covers the eastern panhandle counties of Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan. The facility is a state corrections operation, not a standalone county sheriff’s jail.

- Main telephone
- 304-267-0045

ERJ and Martinsburg Correctional Center are different facilities
WV DCR separately lists Martinsburg Correctional Center and Jail at 38 Grapevine Road, Martinsburg, WV 25401, with main phone 304-267-0156. The buildings have different addresses and functions; do not send visitors, letters or requests to the wrong one based on “Martinsburg jail” alone.
Find the ERJ entrance
The official ERJ location page gives directions from I-81 using Exit 12 and WV Route 9 toward Charles Town. Road conditions, access rules and arrival instructions can change; confirm your visit before traveling.
Open ERJ’s official linked map location · Read the state’s facility and directions page.
ERJ visitation: scheduling, IDs and visitor rules
WV DCR links an ERJ-specific visitation information PDF from the facility page. It sets out scheduling numbers, identification requirements and visiting restrictions. Call the jail before traveling: the PDF is a posted policy document, not a live appointment calendar, and operational schedules may change.
The posted instructions say visits are scheduled by calling 304-267-0045 or 304-267-0048, during Monday, Wednesday or Friday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. They ask callers to book at least one day ahead. The document describes 30-minute visits, generally one per inmate per week, and a group limit of either two adults or one adult with two children. These are published instructions rather than a guarantee of an available slot.
| Visiting day | Posted session start times | Before traveling |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday and Saturday | 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. | Reserve by phone and confirm the assigned session. |
| Thursday | 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. | Ask staff whether the schedule is still in effect. |
What to bring for a visit
The posted ERJ PDF recognizes a driver’s license, state non-driver ID, U.S. passport book or card, or military ID for adult visitors. It does not accept a Social Security card, insurance card or ordinary credit card as the required identification. Minors must be accompanied as specified in facility policy; certain accompanying adults need a notarized juvenile visitation form signed by the parent or guardian.
Dress conservatively and check the current rules. The PDF restricts revealing clothing, hooded items, open-toed shoes and various personal belongings. It also bars items such as phones, purses, weapons, tobacco and food from the visiting area. Staff may reject a visit for noncompliance. Read the complete visitation PDF and ask ERJ about disability accommodations or special visits before arrival.
Mail, calls, video visits and money for an ERJ inmate
Use WV DCR’s centralized letter address—not ERJ’s street address
WV DCR now instructs family and friends to send ordinary inmate letters through a centralized processing location. Its official letter-mail instructions give the following format:
Inmate’s first and last name and OID number
Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility
PO Box 336
Phoenix, MD 21131
Use the full facility name, not just “ERJ,” and include your own complete first and last name plus a full return address. The state says this letter channel does not accept photographs, attachments or enclosures and that each envelope may contain a letter for only one offender. Verify the recipient’s OID through the proper official source; do not guess it.
The Phoenix, Maryland address is for the state-designated letter-processing channel. It does not replace the Martinsburg facility address for a scheduled visit, nor does it establish the address for legal, privileged or other special mail. Ask DCR or the facility for any different approved procedure.
Phone and video contact
WV DCR’s Offender Calling and Video Visits page identifies GettingOut as its provider. Review account setup, identification, any charges, scheduling availability and facility-specific limitations before paying for a service.
Adding funds
The state’s Offender Banking page lists ConnectNetwork online/app options and a phone deposit route, 888-988-4768. Confirm the inmate identity, OID, facility and any disclosed fees before depositing money.
Use government links to reach commercial vendors. A private provider’s processing or service fees are not the same as a fee to view the public WV DCR jail search. Do not assume that adding money enables a person to contact you immediately.
Find ERJ-related charges, bond and court outcomes
ERJ manages custody; it is not the courthouse. A jail record may display an accusation or a court order associated with detention, but it cannot establish what charges prosecutors ultimately pursued or how the case ended. West Virginia offers different court searches depending on the stage and court.
Magistrate Court records
The West Virginia Magistrate Record Search is free and accepts first name, last name or case number. The judiciary says it may show up to 30 records, but copies of underlying case documents must be requested from the clerk of the county in which the case was filed.
Circuit Court records
Use the Judiciary’s Court Record Access page for its statewide circuit-court search route, including WVPASS. Public case information is not necessarily a full criminal-history record; registration or a document fee may apply for some access.
Choose the county connected with the case
| County | Where to confirm the local court | Practical use |
|---|---|---|
| Berkeley | Berkeley County court directory | Martinsburg-area magistrate and circuit case contacts. |
| Jefferson | Jefferson County court directory | Charles Town-area case and clerk contacts. |
| Morgan | Morgan County court directory | Berkeley Springs-area case and clerk contacts. |
For in-person Berkeley County court enquiries, the state lists the Berkeley County Judicial Center at 380 West South Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401. Check the appropriate clerk and any office hours on the official county directory before visiting.
For example, a person booked into ERJ following an incident in Jefferson County may have a case in Jefferson County court even though ERJ is physically in Berkeley County. Search by the case jurisdiction, not the jail’s street address. If a record says “no match,” review spelling and case number or contact the proper court clerk; do not treat a missing online result as a final legal determination.
Victim notifications and release status
WV DCR supports VINE custody notifications. Its official page lists 1-866-WV4-VINE for status information and registration and also links to electronic registration through VINELink. The state explains that notifications around inter-facility movement follow particular procedures, so do not rely solely on an alert for an urgent safety decision.
Why no ERJ mugshot appears—and what to try next
- Recent booking: intake data may not yet appear publicly. Recheck the daily tool or contact the jail if status is urgent.
- Released: a past booking can remain part of a court file when the person no longer appears in a current custody search.
- Transferred: run the statewide jail search again and use the prison search when appropriate; the facility listed on an old screenshot may be outdated.
- Wrong facility: check for Martinsburg Correctional Center rather than Eastern Regional Jail, or another WV regional jail.
- Name mismatch: try accurate legal spelling and compare multiple identifiers instead of relying on a common name or a photograph.
- Image not shown: the state search may provide text information without a publicly displayed photo. That does not promise a photo can be obtained.
- Court file instead: the question may concern charges, an old arrest report or a disposition; use the proper police department or court.
- Privacy restriction: juvenile, sealed and other protected records may be unavailable through public search tools.
Requesting a record not shown online
Identify the record holder first. WV DCR may hold corrections and booking information; the arresting agency may hold the incident report; the court maintains the case file. Describe the date range, county, type of document and known identifiers. Check the agency’s public-records instructions and applicable disclosure restrictions rather than sending sensitive identification to a third-party mugshot directory.
A mugshot is not proof of guilt. Charges and bond orders can change, and someone arrested may never be convicted. Do not circulate unverified allegations, confuse two people with the same name, or use a mugshot page as a consumer background report for employment or housing.
ERJ mugshots and Eastern Regional Jail FAQs
What does ERJ stand for in West Virginia mugshot searches?
ERJ usually refers to Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The state lists it at 94 Grapevine Road and says it serves Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties.
Where do I search current ERJ inmates?
Use WV DCR’s official Offender Search page and select Offender Search (Jails). Enter the person’s legal name and confirm the facility and other identifiers in the result.
Where can I find today’s ERJ bookings?
Use Daily Incarcerations from the WV DCR offender-search gateway. Select the relevant date or institution offered by the live system; booking data and custody status may update separately.
Are ERJ mugshots free to view?
The state provides a public offender-search route. If a photograph appears with the official result, you can view what that system publishes. Not every record has a public photo, and a formal copy request may have different rules.
Does ERJ serve Jefferson and Morgan counties?
Yes. The official ERJ facility page lists Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties. The specific court case normally follows its filing jurisdiction rather than automatically being a Berkeley County case.
What is the ERJ phone number and address?
WV DCR lists 304-267-0045 and 94 Grapevine Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405. This is the facility’s physical location; state letter-mail instructions use a different processing address.
How far in advance should I schedule an ERJ visit?
The facility’s posted visitation document asks visitors to call at least a day ahead and lists weekday scheduling periods. Contact 304-267-0045 or 304-267-0048 to confirm current availability and requirements.
Where should I mail a letter to an ERJ inmate?
WV DCR’s letter-mail page directs ordinary letters, identified with inmate full name and OID plus the full facility name, to PO Box 336, Phoenix, MD 21131. It requires a full sender return address and prohibits enclosures and photos.
Is Martinsburg Correctional Center the same as ERJ?
No. West Virginia separately lists ERJ at 94 Grapevine Road, WV 25405, and Martinsburg Correctional Center and Jail at 38 Grapevine Road, WV 25401. Check the facility name before contacting or visiting.
Why did an inmate disappear from the ERJ search?
Release, transfer, a name mismatch or a changed custody status can explain a missing result. Recheck the statewide jail and prison searches, and use court records to follow the criminal case.
How can I find ERJ-related bond and criminal charges?
Use the West Virginia Judiciary’s Magistrate Record Search for publicly searchable magistrate cases, or its Court Record Access for circuit matters. For court documents, contact the clerk in the county where the case was filed.
Does an ERJ booking photo establish a conviction?
No. A mugshot documents a custody or arrest event. It does not prove that the person was convicted or establish the final court disposition.
