Find Citrus County Mugshots Through the Right Arrest, Jail & Court Record
If you are checking a recent Citrus County arrest, start with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office recent-arrest information. If you need to know whether the person is still being held, contact the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto. For the criminal case and later court outcome, use the Citrus County Clerk’s SCORSS court-record system.

A booking photo or arrest entry records an arrest-stage event. It does not establish guilt, prove that every initial charge was prosecuted, or show the final result of the court case.
Which Citrus County Record Should You Use?
The fastest search begins by deciding what you actually need to know. A recent arrest report, live custody confirmation, criminal court case and statewide criminal-history search are separate records.
Was this person recently arrested?
Start with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office Recent Arrest page. The Sheriff’s public page is designed around recent arrest information rather than long-term criminal-history research.
Is the person still in jail now?
Contact the Citrus County Detention Facility at 352-527-3332. A recent booking record should not be treated as proof that the person remains incarcerated.
What happened after the arrest?
Use the Citrus County Clerk SCORSS system for public criminal case information, docket activity and later case status where available.
Need a broader Florida criminal-history search?
Use the Florida Department of Law Enforcement criminal-history service. It is different from a county mugshot or recent-arrest list.

How to Check Recent Citrus County Arrests and Mugshots
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office provides a Recent Arrest page for recent arrest and booking information. Its public page states that recent arrest records are retained there for a limited period, currently the last 10 days.
Open the Sheriff’s official Recent Arrest page
Use the government source rather than relying first on a commercial mugshot gallery. The Sheriff’s page is the source-level route for the county’s recent arrest information.
Check the arrest date and identifying details
Do not rely only on a person’s name or face. Compare the arrest date, age or date of birth when published, charge information and other available identifiers before deciding that a record belongs to the person you are researching.
Treat charges as arrest-stage information
The charge listed at booking reflects the arrest or intake stage. Prosecutors may later file different charges, decline a charge or modify the case. Use the Clerk’s criminal court record when the later status matters.
Confirm custody separately
A person can appear in a recent-arrest report after release, transfer or another custody change. If the question is “Are they still in jail?”, contact the detention facility rather than relying only on the booking page.
Citrus County Detention Facility: Current Custody Is a Separate Question
Citrus County Detention Facility is located in Lecanto and is operated by CoreCivic. The official facility page lists its address as 2604 W. Woodland Ridge Drive, Lecanto, FL 34461 and its phone number as 352-527-3332.
What to have ready before calling
- Full legal name used at booking.
- Date of birth if known.
- Approximate arrest or booking date.
- Any booking, case or identifying number you already have.
The CoreCivic facility page publishes contact, visitation, mail, money-transfer and facility information, but it should not be confused with the Sheriff’s recent-arrest report or the Clerk’s court database.
Use Citrus County SCORSS to Follow the Criminal Case
The Citrus County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller provides its Secure Courts Online Record Search System, commonly shown as SCORSS, for public court-record access.
The public can use the system for available case indexes and docket information. Florida court-access rules limit what can be displayed online, and confidential or sensitive material can be restricted.
| Question | Best source | What it can help establish |
|---|---|---|
| Was a criminal case filed? | Citrus County Clerk SCORSS | Public case index and docket information where available. |
| What happened after booking? | Clerk criminal case record | Subsequent filings, hearings and available disposition information. |
| Can I see every document image online? | No | Some documents and information are restricted from public internet display. |
| Need help with a criminal case record? | Clerk Customer Service | Call 352-341-6424 and use the criminal-matters prompt. |
Open Citrus County Court Records Search (SCORSS)
The Clerk states that public access computers are also available for court information. The main Citrus County Courthouse is at 110 N Apopka Ave, Inverness, FL 34450. The West Citrus Government Center at 1540 N Meadowcrest Blvd, Crystal River, FL 34429 also provides court and official-record search services. Both locations list regular hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding designated holidays.
Older Arrest Records and Statewide Florida Criminal History
When the arrest is outside the Sheriff’s short recent-arrest window, widen the search instead of assuming the record disappeared.
Citrus County Clerk
If a criminal case was filed, SCORSS may provide the later court trail even after the booking no longer appears in the Sheriff’s recent list.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement
FDLE is Florida’s central repository for state criminal-history information and provides public criminal-history search options.
Current FDLE public-search cost
FDLE currently charges $24 per public criminal-history search. Its Instant Search also carries a $1 credit-card processing fee. Instant results are not certified.
For a certified or non-certified staff-conducted search, FDLE currently lists the underlying search charge as $24. FDLE says non-certified staff searches normally take five business days and certified searches six to seven business days, not including mail delivery time.

Need the Arrest or Incident Report, Not Just the Mugshot?
A jail booking entry is not the same document as the investigating officer’s arrest or incident report. If you need the narrative, evidence list or agency-generated report, identify which law-enforcement agency created it.
For a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office case, begin with the Sheriff’s official site and records route. If another agency made the arrest, request the report from that agency rather than assuming the Sheriff’s Office owns every record connected with the booking.
| Record | Likely custodian | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Recent arrest / booking entry | Citrus County Sheriff’s Office recent-arrest system | Recent arrest-stage information. |
| Current detention status | Citrus County Detention Facility | Whether custody is current and facility-specific information. |
| Arrest or incident report | Arresting / investigating law-enforcement agency | Agency narrative and underlying report materials that are public. |
| Criminal court file | Citrus County Clerk | Case filing, docket and later court action. |
| Florida criminal-history search | FDLE | Broader statewide Florida criminal-history information. |
Florida public-record law does not mean every part of every criminal-justice record is available without restriction. Active-investigation material, juvenile information, victim information, sealed or expunged records and other protected information may be withheld or redacted when applicable.
What to Do When a Citrus County Mugshot or Arrest Does Not Appear
One empty search is not enough to conclude that no arrest, booking or court record exists.
| Problem | Possible explanation | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| No result on recent arrests | The arrest may fall outside the Sheriff’s recent publication window. | Try SCORSS, FDLE or an agency records request. |
| Recent arrest appears but custody is unclear | The person may have been released, transferred or had another custody change. | Call the detention facility at 352-527-3332. |
| Several people have the same name | Name-only matching can identify the wrong person. | Compare DOB, age, booking date, case number and other identifiers. |
| No booking photo is shown | A photo may not be displayed for every record or may be restricted. | Do not substitute a third-party image; ask the responsible records custodian. |
| Need the final charge or disposition | The booking record is an arrest-stage record. | Search Citrus County Clerk SCORSS. |
| Person may have entered state prison | County jail custody can end after sentencing or transfer. | Use Florida Department of Corrections Offender Search. |
| Record may be sealed, expunged or confidential | Public access can be legally restricted. | Ask the responsible Clerk, agency or FDLE instead of assuming a technical error. |

If a Commercial Website Is Publishing a Florida Booking Photo
Florida Statute 901.43 addresses certain businesses that publish arrest booking photographs for commercial purposes.
The law prohibits covered publishers from soliciting or accepting payment to remove an arrest booking photograph. It also creates a written removal-request process for covered publishers.
Under the current statute, the person pictured or the person’s legal representative may send a qualifying written request by registered mail to the publisher’s registered agent, with sufficient proof of identification and specific information identifying the photograph. For covered publishers, the statute sets a 10-calendar-day removal period after receipt of a compliant request.

Citrus County Mugshots, Arrests and Jail Records FAQs

The Sheriff’s public page currently states that arrest records are kept there for the last 10 days. For older matters, expand the search to the Clerk, FDLE or the responsible agency’s records process.

Who operates the Citrus County Detention Facility?

Use the Citrus County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s SCORSS court-record system. Online public access is subject to Florida court-record access and confidentiality rules.
Does a Citrus County mugshot mean the person was convicted?
No. A mugshot or booking entry documents an arrest-stage event. It does not establish guilt, conviction, final charges or the ultimate case disposition.
What if I cannot find someone on the Recent Arrest page?
The arrest may fall outside the recent window, may have occurred in another jurisdiction, may use a different booked name, or the record may be restricted. Confirm current custody with the detention facility and check Clerk or statewide records when appropriate.
How much does an FDLE Florida criminal-history search cost?
FDLE currently charges $24 per public criminal-history search. Its Instant Search also carries a $1 credit-card processing fee.

Can a commercial mugshot website charge me to remove a Florida booking photo?
Florida Statute 901.43 restricts covered commercial mugshot publishers from soliciting or accepting payment for removal. The statute also provides a written removal-request process for publishers covered by the law. This is separate from sealing or expunging the underlying criminal record.
