Find Riverside County Inmates, Bookings and Jail Records Through Official Sources
If you are searching for Riverside County jail mugshots, booking information or current inmate status, start with the Riverside County Sheriff’s official Inmate Information System. The public system supports searches by booking number or name and also provides a separate search by booking date.
Records Search
Court, Criminal, Marriage, Divorce, Property
Riverside County does not operate only one jail building. The Sheriff’s Corrections Division currently lists five adult correctional facilities in Riverside, Murrieta, Indio, Banning and Blythe, so the facility shown in an inmate result matters when you plan a visit, send legal mail or contact jail staff.
Use the Riverside County Sheriff’s Inmate Information System for a current Riverside County jail booking. You can search by booking number or by last name, with optional first name, date of birth and sex information. The Sheriff also provides a booking-date search that can be filtered by facility.
An individual result can show arrest date and time, arresting agency, arrest location, booked date and time, case number, bail amount, current facility, housing unit, next court date, court name, release date and charge information. The public detail page also contains an image area when an inmate image is available.
Which Riverside County Record Answers Your Question?
“Riverside County jail mugshots,” “recent bookings,” “inmate search,” “arrest report” and “criminal court record” are related searches, but they are not interchangeable. Start with the system that matches the information you actually need.
Is the person in Riverside County jail now?
Use the Sheriff’s Inmate Information System. Search by booking number when you already know it, or search by name.
Official inmate search →Do you know when the person was booked?
Use the Sheriff’s booking-date search. It provides a date field and facility selector, which is useful when you do not know a booking number.
Search by booking date →Do you need an arrest or incident report?
Routine reports from 2000 to the present are generally handled by the Sheriff’s station responsible for the report. Older archive requests are routed through the Information Services Bureau.
Sheriff records information →What happened after the arrest?
Use Riverside Superior Court’s public case-access system for criminal case information. The court record is the better source for filed charges and later case events.
Riverside court search →Was the person transferred to CDCR?
Use California’s CIRIS search after a person enters California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation custody.
California CIRIS →Not sure which record type you need?
Our recent mugshots and arrest-booking guide explains the difference between a live jail search, dated booking list, arrest report and criminal court file.
How to Search Riverside County Jail Bookings
The Sheriff’s current Inmate Information System offers two main search routes: a person search and a booking-date search. A booking-number search is usually the most specific method when you already have that identifier.
Open the Riverside County Sheriff inmate system
Use the official Sheriff’s inmate-search endpoint rather than a copied mugshot website. The current page identifies itself as the Riverside County Inmate Information System.
Use the booking number when known
The public search accepts a booking number directly. This reduces confusion when several people share the same or similar names.
Otherwise search by last name
The current name-search form requires a last name. You can also enter a first name, date of birth and sex to make the search more specific.
Open the correct booking result
Search results identify the booking number, name, date of birth, sex and whether the person is currently in custody. Select the booking number to open the detail page.
Check the facility and court fields
Do not stop at the photograph. Review current facility, arresting agency, case number, bail, next court date and charges when those fields are populated.
Verify the later court case separately
If you need to know what prosecutors filed or how the case ended, move from the Sheriff’s jail system to Riverside Superior Court.
Search Riverside County Inmates by Booking Date
Riverside County’s public inmate system also provides a Search By Booking Date route. The current form lets you choose a facility and enter a date in month/day/year format.
This is useful when you know approximately when an arrest occurred but do not know the exact booking number or full name. It can also be more useful than a name search when you are researching bookings from a particular day.
What Riverside County Inmate Results Can Show
The Sheriff’s current public detail template contains several fields that help distinguish the jail record from the later criminal court case.
| Field | What it helps establish | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Booking Number | Identifies the specific Riverside County jail booking. | It is not necessarily the criminal court case number. |
| Name / DOB / sex | Helps distinguish people with similar names. | A name match alone is not enough to establish identity. |
| Arrest Date / Time | Shows the arrest information associated with the record. | It does not prove the allegation was later filed or sustained. |
| Arresting Agency | Identifies the law-enforcement agency associated with the arrest. | The arresting agency is not necessarily the jail operator or prosecutor. |
| Arresting Location | Provides location information linked to the arrest entry. | It does not necessarily identify the court where every charge is later heard. |
| Booked Date / Time | Shows when the person was processed into the jail system. | Booking time and arrest time may differ. |
| Case Number | Can help connect the jail record with a court case. | Use the court system to verify current case information. |
| Bail Amount | Shows bail information associated with the booking when populated. | It should not be interpreted without reviewing charges, holds and current court orders. |
| Current Facility | Shows which Riverside County facility currently houses the person. | It may change after classification, transfer or release. |
| Housing Unit | Shows the current jail housing assignment when published. | Housing can change during the custody period. |
| Next Court Date / Court Name | Provides scheduling information known to the jail system. | Always confirm an important hearing with the court itself. |
| Release Date | Can show release information when available. | Release from county jail does not mean the court case ended. |
| Charges / Disposition | Shows charge-related information associated with custody. | The final criminal disposition should be verified through the Superior Court. |
Does Riverside County’s Inmate Search Show Mugshots?
The current public inmate-detail template contains an image area alongside booking information. When a booking image is available through the public system, it may appear with the inmate record.
Do not assume that every booking will display a public photograph or that a missing image means no arrest occurred. Public availability can depend on the particular record, custody status and current agency publication practices.
The Sheriff’s Cal-ID program separately maintains law-enforcement biometric and mugshot systems for official identification functions. That internal law-enforcement capability is different from the public Inmate Information System used by ordinary visitors.
Riverside County Correctional Facilities
The Sheriff’s Corrections Division currently lists five county correctional facilities. Always check the inmate’s Current Facility field before mailing legal correspondence, arranging a visit or calling a jail.

Why a Riverside County Inmate May Not Appear
A failed search does not automatically mean the arrest never occurred. Custody databases change as people are booked, released, transferred or moved into another correctional system.
| Problem | Possible explanation | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| No result immediately after an arrest | The booking may still be processing or the public system may not yet reflect the intake. | Recheck the official inmate system and contact the responsible facility or Sheriff’s station if custody status is urgent. |
| Name search returns nothing | The spelling, legal surname or identifying information may differ. | Try the booking number when known or recheck the exact name and date-of-birth information. |
| Person is no longer shown in custody | The person may have been released or transferred. | Search the court case and use CDCR CIRIS if state-prison custody may apply. |
| You know the arrest date but not the name spelling | The name search may be too broad or inaccurate. | Use the Sheriff’s booking-date search and select a facility when appropriate. |
| No booking image appears | The public system may not display an image for that record. | Use the booking data and public-record process when an agency-held record is genuinely needed. |
| Need the final outcome | The jail system reflects custody, not the final criminal disposition. | Use Riverside Superior Court’s criminal case search. |
Use Riverside Superior Court for the Criminal Case
Riverside Superior Court provides public online access to criminal and traffic case information. This is the system to use when you need filed criminal charges, a register of actions or later case activity rather than only jail custody.
A case-number search is free when you have the required case information. Name searches use search credits. The court currently publishes the following pricing:
| Online court search | Current published cost |
|---|---|
| Case-number search | Free with the required case information |
| 1 name-search credit | $1.00 |
| 5 name-search credits | $3.50 |
| 10 name-search credits | $5.00 |
If an online case cannot be located, the Superior Court says users can submit a request for the court to conduct a search. A court-conducted search identifies case-number information; requesting copies is a separate process.
How to Request Riverside County Sheriff’s Records
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office handles California Public Records Act requests through its CPRA Unit. The Sheriff says requests may be made in writing, verbally, through the online process, in person or by email.
CPRA Unit
The Sheriff’s FAQ says online and email requests generally produce a quicker response than some other submission methods.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department
ATTN: CPRA Unit
4095 Lemon Street, 5th Floor
Riverside, CA 92501
What the Sheriff’s current CPRA guidance says
- Any member of the public can make a CPRA request, subject to applicable exemptions.
- A requester does not have to explain why they want an ordinary public record.
- A request can be made anonymously, although an email or mailing address is needed if records are to be delivered.
- A request does not have to be in writing.
- The Sheriff’s Office must make its determination on a CPRA request no later than 10 days after receipt, subject to California law governing extensions and production.
- Not every law-enforcement record is publicly disclosable, and exempt information can be withheld or redacted.
Reports from before 2000
The Sheriff’s Information Services Bureau says archive report requests from before 2000 should be directed to the Information Services Bureau. For reports from 2000 to current, contact the responsible Sheriff’s station.
Special rule for Sheriff’s arrest-log information
The Sheriff’s current CPRA FAQ says arrest-log information about people arrested by the Sheriff’s Office is disclosable only for scholarly, journalistic, political, governmental or investigatory purposes. The requester must sign a declaration that the request is for one of those purposes and not for commercial use.
Riverside County Jail Visiting Rules
Riverside County uses facility-specific visiting schedules. The Sheriff instructs visitors to call the visiting number listed for the facility from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to schedule a visit one day before the desired visiting date.
The Sheriff’s general visiting rules currently state that inmates are allowed a maximum of two visits per week and each visit is approximately 45 minutes.
| General rule | Current Sheriff guidance |
|---|---|
| Scheduling | Call the facility’s visiting number between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. one day before the desired visit. |
| Visits per week | Maximum of two per inmate. |
| Approximate length | 45 minutes. |
| Identification | Valid picture identification is required. |
| Minors | Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. |
| Security | Visitors and belongings may be searched, and warrant checks can occur. |
Each facility has its own schedule and physical requirements. Confirm the current facility first and then use that facility’s official visiting page before traveling.
Where to Send Riverside County Inmate Mail
Riverside County now separates ordinary personal letters from books, periodicals, money orders, legal mail and special correspondence.
370 S 500 E #201
Clearfield, UT 84015
Regular mail must contain the inmate’s complete first and last name as booked, the correct booking number, and the sender’s complete name and return address. The Sheriff says missing or incorrect booking numbers can cause mail to be returned.
Direct jail mailing addresses for special items
| Facility | Direct mailing address |
|---|---|
| Blythe Jail | Inmate Name & Booking Number Blythe Jail P.O. Box 1270 Blythe, CA 92226 |
| Robert Presley Detention Center | Inmate Name & Booking Number Robert Presley Detention Center P.O. Box 710 Riverside, CA 92501 |
| Cois M. Byrd Detention Center | Inmate Name & Booking Number Cois M. Byrd Detention Center 30755-B Auld Road Murrieta, CA 92563 |
| John J. Benoit Detention Center | Inmate Name & Booking Number Indio Jail P.O. Box 1748 Indio, CA 92202 |
| Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility | Inmate Name & Booking Number Smith Correctional Facility 1627 S. Hargrave Street Banning, CA 92220 |
The Sheriff’s mail rules prohibit many common items, including cash, personal checks, postage stamps, postcards, care packages, greeting cards and adhesive materials. Check the current official policy before mailing photos or other enclosures.
How to Deposit Money for a Riverside County Inmate
The Sheriff currently accepts deposits through Access Corrections online, by telephone, through lobby kiosks and by U.S. Postal Money Order.
Inmates can use account funds for items such as snacks, hygiene products, phone cards and writing materials.
Access Corrections
Online deposits are available through Access Corrections. The vendor charges transaction fees based on the amount and payment method.
Access Corrections telephone deposit
Call 866-345-1884. The Sheriff’s current page says the telephone deposit service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Cash or credit card
Jail lobby kiosks accept qualifying cash or credit-card deposits. A deposit can be made at any county jail facility while the inmate remains in Riverside County Sheriff’s custody.
U.S. Postal Money Order
Write the inmate’s name and booking number on the front. Cash and personal checks are not accepted through the mail.
Current published Access Corrections transaction fees
| Deposit amount | Online credit | Phone credit | Kiosk credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| $0.01–$19.99 | $2.95 | $3.95 | $2.95 |
| $20.00–$99.99 | $5.95 | $6.95 | $5.95 |
| $100.00–$200.00 | $7.95 | $8.95 | $7.95 |
For kiosk cash deposits, the Sheriff’s current fee table lists $1 for $0.01–$20, $2 for $20.01–$40 and $3 for $40.01–$200. Verify the vendor screen before completing a transaction because third-party charges can change.
Picking Up Inmate Property or Delivering Court Items
The Sheriff limits property pickup to qualifying personal property other than clothing and money. The inmate must sign a property-withdrawal slip authorizing the release, and the person collecting the property must show identification.
Court clothing, prescription medications and legal documents use facility-specific procedures. Contact the actual jail shown in the inmate record before bringing anything to the facility.
Use CDCR CIRIS if the Person Moves to State Prison
When a person is transferred from Riverside County jail into California state-prison custody, the Riverside County inmate system is no longer the best locator. Use the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s California Incarcerated Records and Information Search (CIRIS).
CDCR says CIRIS can be searched by last name or CDCR number and can display selected information including name, age, CDCR number, current location, admission date, county of commitment and parole-eligibility information.
Use Riverside County Mugshots and Booking Records Carefully
Booking records affect real people. A public jail entry may reflect an allegation that was later changed, dismissed or resolved in a different way. Similar names can also create identification errors.
When accuracy matters, verify the booking number, date of birth and other available identifiers, then check Riverside Superior Court for the later case status.
USA-Mugshots.com is an independent informational website. It is not the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Riverside Superior Court, CDCR or another government agency, and it is not a consumer reporting agency.
